Chicagoland
Asia Business Exchange

Chicagoland executives & thought leaders sharing experience on doing business in China, India & Southeast Asia.

SPOTLIGHT
We received wonderful insight at the July 2008 Chicagoland Asia Business Exchange held at Motorola’s Innovation Center in Schaumburg with a delegation of executives from China. Many thanks to all of the thought leaders and contributors!!!

Shufen asked us to share this hotlink to information on the World Trade Center Illinois October 15th China: Promise to Profits Conference being held at Loyola University School of Law.

The next exchange will be on Friday, November 7th where we will be focusing on learning and talent management strategies for business & HR leaders. The theme is Business Transformation and Multi-Cultural Issues with Globalization and we are thrilled to have Richard Laible, Corporate Entertainer, plans to join us to moderate the conference. Please feel free to invite your non U.S.-based colleagues to join the Chicagoland Learning Leaders on November 7th.

You can view & print a 2008 conference brochure (click here).

Summary of July Exchange with Chinese & Chicago Business Executives

We had about fifty executives which included a delegation of 20 executives from China. The Chinese delegation on average were approximately 40 years old, have more than 15 years of business experience, running Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) gearing for growth and have recently finished their EXECUTIVE MBA at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB). The Chinese delegation also attended a 2-day University of Chicago Executive Program at the Gleacher Center on their Chicago visit. One of our objectives we successfully accomplished on July 10th was to facilitate exchange between Chicagoland and Chinese executives on other relevant topics such as innovation, talent management, and quality control.

The agenda for Thursday, July 10, 2008 was:

  • The morning featured a formal presentation of a Motorola case study to our Chinese guests and tour of Motorola’s Innovation Center
  • The afternoon offered opportunities in various concurrent breakout sessions to meet with a variety of Chicago-based business leaders doing China business
  • At the conclusion of the day, we provided an informal opportunity for cocktails with Chicago-based and China-based businesses.
